  • The project has helped introduce Red Fife and other heritage- varieties of wheat into the organic grain community and into- local food systems. Sharon Rempel and Grassroot Solutions have- coordinated the Project since 1998. We do on-farm field trials- and generate data about heritage varieties of pre 1960s varieties- of wheat. We network with groups in Europe, U.S. and Canada- including Heliotrust in Nova Scotia. We hosted Canada's first- Bread and Wheat Festival in 2007 linked heritage wheat, local- food security, local wheat, artisan bakers and consumers.
